Sen. Ossoff Pushing Bipartisan Legislation to Protect Pregnant Workers from Discrimination

Washington, D.C. — U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff is working to protect pregnant workers from discrimination in the workplace.

Sen. Ossoff is pushing to pass the bipartisan Pregnant Workers Fairness Act to ensure pregnant workers have a clear-cut right to reasonable accommodations in the workplace.

“This bipartisan push to strengthen workplace protections for women is one of my highest priorities,” Sen. Ossoff said.

Employers would be required to make reasonable accommodations for pregnant workers such as:

  • Access to food or water on the job where otherwise prohibited
  • The ability for a worker to sit instead of otherwise standing
  • Access to additional breaks as needed
