Following Sen. Ossoff Push, Financial Aid Restored for Morris Brown Students

“I would like to thank Sen. Ossoff for keeping his campaign promises of supporting Morris Brown College and Georgia’s HBCUs” —Morris Brown President

Atlanta, Ga. — Following a successful push by U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff, Federal financial aid has been restored to help Morris Brown College students afford tuition.

Sen. Ossoff previously called on the Biden Administration to restore Federal financial aid eligibility for current and future Morris Brown students.

This comes as a part of his efforts to help restore Morris Brown to full accreditation and a full student body.

“As a candidate, I vowed to work with Dr. James and Morris Brown College to restore its accreditation and rebuild to a full student body, and I’m keeping my promises,” Sen. Ossoff said. “This decision to reinstate financial aid for students will ensure students can afford tuition, and thanks to Dr. James’ leadership, Morris Brown College is even closer to restoring its place as one of America’s pre-eminent HBCUs.”

“I would like to thank Senator Ossoff for keeping his campaign promises of supporting Morris Brown College and Georgia’s HBCUs. His support has been invaluable! This announcement catapults this institution into its glorious future. It is a new day for Morris Brown College,” Morris Brown President Dr. Kevin James said.

During his campaign for U.S. Senate, Sen. Ossoff pledged to deliver funding for Morris Brown to restore full accreditation with a full student body.

Since taking office earlier this year, Sen. Ossoff has delivered over a quarter of a billion dollars to Georgia’s HBCUs.

He is also working to pass legislation to boost cybersecurity and national security programs at HBCUs in Georgia and across the country.
