Moody AFB 41 RQS HH-60W Apron

Recipient Name: Moody Air Force Base

Project Purpose: The purpose of this funding is to provide an adequately-sized, properly configured and located aircraft parking apron and associated access pavements to support the introduction of the forthcoming HH-60W “Pave Hawk” combat rescue helicopter at Moody AFB. Moody is home to the Air Force’s 41st Rescue Squadron, which flies the HH-60G Pave Hawk which the 60W is slated to replace. This squadron specializes in combat rescue of downed aircrews using night vision goggles (NVG), low-level formation, air refueling, and survivor recovery. Members assigned to this squadron rapidly mobilize, deploy and employ to provide combat and peacetime search and rescue in support of U.S. national security interests.

The request would fund an EIS to ready the Atlanta to Savannah corridor for implementation of high-speed passenger rail service by completing the required environmental studies and preparing a service development plan.

Project Purpose: Cobb Department of Transportation is requesting $2.5 million for the Chattahoochee RiverLands project through the Community Development Fund within the Economic Development Initiatives projects. This project will support Phase II of the Chattahoochee RiverLands greenway trail to better connect communities along the river and the Metro Atlanta region.

Project Purpose: The City of Valdosta is requesting $993,000 to expand their Valdosta On-Demand fleet through the Transit Infrastructure Grants. This fleet expansion would allow the City of Valdosta to provide service to the existing 2,600 users, enable some continued growth during its start-up phase, and to grow to meet the burgeoning demand for public transit. These additional vans would be crucial in creating a reliable quality of service that employees need to plan their work commute and other essential trips.
