Sen. Ossoff Extends Juneteenth Greetings

Atlanta, Ga. — U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff is celebrating Juneteenth with a new video message.

“It was a great honor on behalf of the State of Georgia to cast one of the decisive votes to establish Juneteenth as a national holiday just a few years ago.

“I’m grateful to community leaders across the state for taking the time and making the space for all of us together to reflect on the importance of this moment in American history when Union troops arrived in Galveston and carried the news to those slaves in Texas that President Lincoln had issued the Emancipation Proclamation, and that freedom was at hand,” Sen. Ossoff said.
