Sen. Ossoff Delivering Resources to Strengthen Violence Prevention Efforts

Atlanta, Ga. — U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff is delivering new resources to expand violence prevention programs in South Atlanta.

Sen. Ossoff is delivering new funding for CHRIS 180, a multi-service behavioral health organization that works alongside community leaders to promote violence-prevention programs and initiatives.

The Federal funding will support the expansion of CHRIS 180’s program, Cure Violence, into additional regions in South Atlanta.

Sen. Ossoff brought Republicans and Democrats together to deliver $331,000 for the project through this year’s bipartisan government funding package, working alongside Senator Reverend Raphael Warnock

“I am focused every day on keeping Georgia families safe. That’s why I brought Republicans and Democrats together to strengthen violence prevention programs,” Sen. Ossoff said. “I thank CHRIS 180 President and CEO Kathy Colbenson for bringing this proposal to my office and for her leadership in the community.”

“We are very thankful to Senator Ossoff for securing funding in support of CHRIS 180’s efforts to end gun violence here in Atlanta. To build safe and strong communities, there must be dedicated resources in place, like our violence interrupters who work every day to curb violent crime by building relationships in neighborhoods where they live and work.  With this additional support, we will be able to expand our impact in Southwest Atlanta to reduce and prevent gun violence in these historic communities,” said Kathy Colbenson, LMFT, President & CEO of CHRIS 180.
