Georgians Speak Out on Impact of ACA Tax Credits, Possible Loss of Health Coverage

Washington, D.C. — Yesterday, Senate Republicans blocked legislation to extend ACA tax credits just weeks before they expire.

If the ACA enhanced premium tax credits expire at the end of the year, according to KFF, 1.4 million Georgianscould see their premiums double and 460,000 Georgians could lose health insurance altogether because they cannot afford the price increases.

For months, U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff has been fighting to extend the ACA credits, including offering an amendment to the Trump budget bill to extend the Affordable Care Act tax credits back in June.

This week, Sen. Ossoff spoke from the U.S. Senate to share Georgians’ stories and to urge Senate Republicans to put politics aside and extend the ACA enhanced premium tax credits before open enrollment ends.

Georgians are sharing their stories about what this price hike will mean to them.
