Sen. Ossoff Strengthening Apprenticeship Programs in Georgia

Atlanta, Ga. — U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff is expanding apprenticeship programs for Georgians looking for jobs.

Today, Sen. Ossoff is delivering over $6 million in Federal funding to the Technical College System of Georgia through the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) to strengthen job training programs and give Georgians more economic opportunities through apprenticeships, or on-the-job training opportunities.

Sen. Ossoff is delivering over $6 million through the DOL’s State Apprenticeship Expansion (SAFE3) grant program to help the Technical College System of Georgia expand their apprenticeships programs, helping accommodate and train more Georgians for good-paying jobs.

“I’ve secured these funds to support training and on-the-job experiences for Georgians,” Sen. Ossoff said. “I want to help Georgians who otherwise lack access to job training and skills training get those skills, get that experience, and get these jobs.”

Sen. Ossoff continues to champion job training programs in Georgia.

In February, Sen. Ossoff co-sponsored the bipartisan JOBS Act to help students across Georgia enrolled in job training programs access Pell Grants for the completion of their training.

Last April, Sen. Ossoff delivered $250,000 in Federal funding to the Automative Training Center to purchase additional equipment and space for job training programs.

Last year, Sen. Ossoff helped introduce the bipartisan Pathways to Prosperity Act, which would strengthen job training and skills programs at community and technical colleges.
