Sen. Ossoff Expanding Access to Scholarships, Tutoring for First-Gen College Students

Washington, D.C. — U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff is strengthening access to scholarships and tutoring for first-generation college students across Georgia.

Sen. Ossoff is delivering over $4 million through the Department of Education’s TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) grant program to support college students across Georgia.

Trio SSS grants are used by higher education institutions to support students and ensure their academic success through tutoring programs, financial and academic counseling, and other support necessary to successfully enroll in and graduate from a four-year institution.

“I remain focused on strengthening access to higher education across Georgia,” Sen. Ossoff said. “I am delivering these Federal resources to support young people and help them access vital resources as they pursue their degree.”

In February, Sen. Ossoff co-sponsored the bipartisan JOBS Act to help students across Georgia enrolled in job training programs access Pell Grants for the completion of their training.

Last April, Sen. Ossoff delivered $250,000 in Federal funding to the Automative Training Center to purchase additional equipment and space for job training programs.

Last year, Sen. Ossoff helped introduce the bipartisan Pathways to Prosperity Act, which would strengthen job training and skills programs at community and technical colleges.
