Sen. Ossoff Strengthening Education Job Training in South Georgia

Tifton, Ga. — U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff is expanding job training opportunities in South Georgia.

Sen. Ossoff brought Republicans and Democrats together to help train more elementary school teachers for rural Georgia school districts.

With the funding, Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College plans to equip classrooms with new equipment to train more teachers, with a goal of placing more teachers for rural Georgia school districts. The College’s new Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education launches Fall 2026

Sen. Ossoff is delivering $790,000 for the project through bipartisan government funding legislation that became law on February 3.

“Bringing Republicans and Democrats together, I’m delivering resources to ensure South Georgia teachers are trained with the skills to help every child in Georgia succeed,” Sen. Ossoff said.

President Tracy Brundage expressed her appreciation, saying, “We are grateful for this investment in ABAC and in the future of rural education. This grant strengthens our new Elementary Education degree through enhanced classroom technology and hands-on training that prepares our students to lead on day one in their own classrooms.”

Brundage continued, “As teacher shortages continue to impact communities like Tifton, Bainbridge, and surrounding areas, ABAC is proud to be part of the solution by developing well-prepared, influential educators for schools across Georgia.”
