Sen. Ossoff Successfully Presses USDA to Purchase Georgia-Grown Pecans

Washington, D.C. — Following U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff’s push, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is purchasing more Georgia pecans.

Earlier this year, Sen. Ossoff pressed USDA to support Georgia pecan growers. Now, following his push, USDA is announcing a $24 million investment to support pecan growers and shellers in Georgia and across the country.

“I’m focused every day on Georgia farmers. It is the biggest industry in the State of Georgia, and Georgia farmers work tirelessly to feed the state, the country, and the world. I’ve got their back and I’m going to continue working to support Georgia agriculture,” Sen. Ossoff said.

Sen. Ossoff continues working to support Georgia’s pecan growers.

Earlier this month, Sen. Ossoff and Georgia’s Congressional delegation urged the Trump Administration to help Georgia growers export more pecans.

Last July, Sens. Ossoff and Reverend Raphael Warnock pressed the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to provide adequate promotional resources for marketing Georgia pecans to the global market.

In 2023, following Sen. Ossoff’s push, the Republic of India announced a major 70% cut to tariffs on U.S. pecan exports — helping growers sell more products.
