Sens. Ossoff, Casey, Whitehouse Pushing to Reduce Energy Costs for Businesses & Manufacturers

Senators call on Congressional leadership to accelerate America’s energy independence and advance global competitiveness

Last year, the U.S. House of Representatives passed Sen. Ossoff’s “Industrial Energy-Efficient Technology Act” to create good-paying jobs and reduce energy bills for businesses in Georgia and nationwide

Washington, D.C. — U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff is continuing his work to reduce energy costs for Georgia’s businesses and manufacturers and boost American competitiveness.

Today, Sens. Ossoff, Bob Casey (D-PA), and Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) urged Congressional leadership to include key provisions in the upcoming American competitiveness bill to strengthen the country’s energy efficiency and boost global competitiveness.

Senators Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), Amy Klobuchar (D-MN), Tina Smith (D-MN), Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), and co-leads Representatives Kathy Castor (D-FL-14) and Mike Doyle (D-PA-18), as well as Sean Casten (D-IL-06) and Abigail Spanberger (D-VA-07) joined the letter.

“As you negotiate a final compromise bill addressing American economic and technological competitiveness, we write to urge inclusion of three provisions in the House-passed America COMPETES Act,” the members wrote. “Prioritizing investments in our industrial base will not only improve efficiency and reduce GHG emissions and co-pollutants, but drive growth in energy communities across the nation, protecting and creating high quality jobs and increasing the global competitiveness of American companies.”

The State Flex-Tech Energy Program, amending the Clean Industrial Technology Act (CITA), and the First Three program would rapidly scale energy-efficient solutions to reduce energy costs for businesses across Georgia and the nation and lower carbon emissions.

Sen. Ossoff has positioned himself as a leader in clean energy since he was first elected to the U.S. Senate last year. Sen. Ossoff’s landmark Solar Energy Manufacturing for America Act will help supercharge domestic solar manufacturing and create tens of thousands of jobs in Georgia and nationwide.

Sen. Ossoff also introduced the Clean Energy for All Homes Act, which would reduce the cost of installing renewable energy systems and help middle-class and lower-income families lower their energy bills.

Last December, Sen. Ossoff introduced the Industrial Energy Efficient Technology Act to develop the State Flex-Tech Energy Program and invest in energy efficient technologies.
