Sen. Ossoff Marks Brain Health Awareness Month

Washington, D.C. — U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff is marking and raising awareness about Brain Health Awareness Month during the month of March.

Led by the Brain Injury Association of America (BIAA), Brain Injury Awareness Month aims to raise awareness and support for the millions of Americans impacted permanent brain injuries.

According to the Georgia Department of Public Health, in 2019, there were 21,026 emergency department visits and 8,081 hospitalizations related to traumatic brain injury in Georgia alone, totaling more than 29,000 cases statewide.

As part of Brain Health Awareness Month, Sen. Ossoff is elevating constituents’ stories and engaging with pediatric, medical, and educational leaders to strengthen collaboration to reduce the risk of brain injuries, especially among young people.
