Valdosta, Ga. — U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff is strengthening emergency care for families in Valdosta.
Sen. Ossoff brought Republicans and Democrats together to help the City of Valdosta purchase a fully equipped quick-response vehicle for the Valdosta Fire Department.
According to local leaders, the Valdosta Fire Department received a Medical First Responder license in 2022 from the Georgia Office of EMS, allowing their personnel to align with emergency medical care in conjunction with South Georgia Medical Center EMS. The quick-response vehicle will help their emergency personnel respond to medical emergencies and to provide emergency care.
Sen. Ossoff is delivering $328,000 for the project through bipartisan government funding legislation that became law on February 3.
“There’s no worse nightmare for any family than having a loved one who’s sick, but who cannot get the health care they need,” Sen. Ossoff said. “That’s why I brought Republicans and Democrats together to help strengthen emergency response services for families in Valdosta.”
“Response times can be the difference between life and death for someone experiencing a medical emergency. The City of Valdosta thanks Senator Ossoff for delivering Federal funding for the City to purchase a quick-response vehicle. This new tool will allow emergency medical response teams to get to medical emergencies sooner and help improve outcomes,” said Valdosta Mayor Scott James Matheson.
