Sens. Rev. Warnock, Ossoff Upgrading Newton County Water Infrastructure

Covington, Ga. — U.S. Senators Reverend Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff are delivering resources to upgrade Newton County’s water infrastructure.

Sens. Ossoff and Rev. Warnock brought Republicans and Democrats together to upgrade the Alcovy River Pump Station to better serve residents in the county.

According to local leaders, Newton County plans to upgrade the pump station by replacing asbestos pipes, mitigating the risk of exposure to PFAS and other contaminants, and improving available water supply.

Sens. Ossoff and Rev. Warnock are delivering $1,092,000 for the project through bipartisan government funding legislation that became law on January 23.

“Every town in Georgia deserves safe, effective water infrastructure,” said Sen. Ossoff. “That’s why Senator Reverend Warnock and I bought Republicans and Democrats together to upgrade water infrastructure in Newton County.”

“Safe and clean water infrastructure is something that every thriving community needs,” said Senator Warnock. “I am proud to work alongside my Georgia colleagues to bring these federal funds to Georgia.”
