Sens. Ossoff, Rev. Warnock Upgrading Water Infrastructure in Swainsboro

Upgrades to the I-16 Industrial Park will spur economic development & job creation

Emanuel County Development Authority: “We are grateful to U.S. Senators Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock for their help and support in delivering this grant”

Swainsboro, Ga. — Upgrades to Emanuel County’s I-16 Industrial Park are coming thanks to U.S. Senators Jon Ossoff and Reverend Raphael Warnock.

Sens. Ossoff and Rev. Warnock are delivering new resources to the Emanuel County Development Authority to help finish sewer infrastructure improvements at the I-16 Industrial Park.

The upgrades will boost capacity at the Industrial Park to support a new logging manufacturing plant and other local businesses.

According to the U.S. Economic Development Authority and local partners, the $1.2 million Federal grant, which will be matched with $767,320 in state and local funds, is expected to create 100 local jobs.

“Emanuel County families and businesses deserve world-class water infrastructure. Senator Reverend Warnock and I are delivering upgrades to Emanuel County to support economic development at the I-16 Industrial Park and attract more jobs and investment to the region,” Sen. Ossoff said.

“Senator Ossoff and I remain committed to fighting for Georgians in every corner of our state, and that is especially true for our rural communities that are in critical need of robust economic development,” said Senator Reverend Warnock. “That is why I was proud to work together to champion Emanuel County’s efforts and help secure this public health and infrastructure investment, which will create good-paying jobs and spur the local Swainsboro economy, and I will keep working to direct more federal resources to rural Georgia.”

“On behalf of the Emanuel County Development Authority, we are grateful to U.S. Senators Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock for their help and support in delivering this grant. This new Federal funding will allow us to complete the vital sewer infrastructure project at the I-16 Industrial Park, a key to future economic development in our area. We look forward to continuing to work with Senators Ossoff and Warnock to support economic growth in Swainsboro and Emanuel County,” said Ken Warnock, CEO, Swainsboro-Emanuel County Chamber of Commerce and Emanuel County Development Authority.

Located less than 90 minutes by Interstate I-16 to the port of Savannah, and two hours from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, the Emanuel Interstate 16 Industrial Park has 570 acres of build-able sites and is ideal for international trade. The two large western lots have potential CSX/Norfolk Southern rail access. Emanuel County’s status as a “Tier 1” county equates to maximum state incentives for manufacturers or warehouse operations locating here.

“The Biden-Harris Administration’s Investing in America agenda is jumpstarting our middle class by providing infrastructure and supporting manufacturing here at home, creating hundreds of thousands of jobs across Georgia and the entire country,” said Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo. “This EDA investment will help create new, high-paying manufacturing jobs in the community and grow economic opportunity across the region.”

“The Economic Development Administration works hand-in-hand with local communities to support their bottom-up, middle-out economic development strategies,” said Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Economic Development Alejandra Y. Castillo. “This strategic, place-based project will provide the infrastructure needed to accommodate a new manufacturing facility, creating a stronger, more diverse regional economy for the future.”
