Sens. Ossoff, Rev. Warnock Delivering Funding for Beltline Southside Trail Project

Atlanta, Ga. — U.S. Senators Jon Ossoff and Reverend Raphael Warnock are delivering Federal resources for the Beltline Southside Trail project.

Sens. Ossoff and Rev. Warnock brought Republicans and Democrats together to help the City of Atlanta build a pedestrian bridge over I-20 at Bill Kennedy Way to ensure pedestrians and cyclists can safely access the Southside Beltline Trail.

Sens. Ossoff and Rev. Warnock are delivering $2,000,000 for the project through bipartisan government funding legislation that became law on February 3.

“The Beltline is a transformative Metro Atlanta infrastructure project to upgrade quality of life and spur development across the region,” Sen. Ossoff said. “Bringing Republicans and Democrats together, Senator Reverend Warnock and I are delivering these resources to accelerate construction of the Southside Trail.”

“The Atlanta Beltline has been a tremendous economic development and mobility engine for the metro Atlanta community,” said Senator Warnock. “I am proud to have worked alongside Senator Ossoff and our state leaders to secure federal funding to further develop this modern Atlanta landmark.”

“This crucial bridge over I-20 in southeast Atlanta will improve safety and mobility for all Beltline users,” said Clyde Higgs, President and CEO of Atlanta Beltline, Inc. “With residences, businesses, and schools on both sides of the interstate, including students travelling to and from local schools including Maynard Jackson High and Parkside Elementary. This will be a huge improvement for people using the trail for commuting, getting to schools, and daily needs like grocery shopping. We greatly appreciate the support of Senators Ossoff and Rev. Warnock in securing this funding that will improve quality of life for all of us.”
