Washington, D.C. — U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff’s bipartisan legislation to strengthen Georgia’s energy security has passed the U.S. Senate.
Sen. Ossoff’s bipartisan American Energy Security Act recently passed the U.S. Senate as part of the larger PIPELINE Safety Act of 2025, introduced by Senators Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Maria Cantwell (D-WA).
Sen. Ossoff’s bipartisan legislation would formally authorize the Natural Gas Distribution Infrastructure and Safety Modernization grant program, which provides Federal grant funding to help communities replace and upgrade critical infrastructure, improving the safe and reliable transportation of fuel to families and businesses.
“I am leading this bipartisan legislation to protect families, support growth, and ensure reliable, safe energy for years to come,” Sen. Ossoff said.
Sen. Ossoff continues working to strengthen American energy security.
Sen. Ossoff has successfully delivered Federal funding through this grant program to communities across Georgia — including a historic $8.4 million grant to the City of Toccoa in 2024 to replace aged, leaking natural gas pipes to lower energy costs and improve the reliability of services for small businesses and residents in the area — and to the cities of Lawrenceville, Hawkinsville, Buford, Winder, Hartwell, Tifton, Eatonton, Perry, and Thomasville.
In 2024, Sens. Ossoff and Rev. Warnock delivered over $49 million through the Department of Transportation (DOT)’s Port Infrastructure Development Program (PIDP) to the Georgia Ports Authority (GPA) to improve grid redundancy and resilience.
Also in 2024, Sen. Ossoff, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC), and Congressman Hank Johnson’s (GA-04) bipartisanHydrogen Aviation Strategy Act passed the U.S. Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee as part of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reauthorization.
In 2023, Sen. Ossoff delivered a $250 million investment through the bipartisan infrastructure law to strengthen Georgia’s energy grid and ensure Georgia families, small businesses, and the agricultural industry have access to reliable and affordable electricity.
