Sen. Ossoff Working to Protect Military Servicemembers from Sexual Assault & Domestic Violence

Washington, D.C. — U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff is working to protect military servicemembers from sexual assault and domestic violence.

Today, Sen. Ossoff joined with Sens. John Cornyn (R-TX), Kirsten Sinema (D-AZ), Thom Tillis (R-NC), and Marco Rubio (R-FL) to introduce the bipartisan Protecting our Servicemembers through Proven Methods Act of 2022 to study and strengthen prevention methods against sexual assault, domestic violence, sexual harassment, child abuse, and more.

“Our bipartisan bill to strengthen protections for military servicemembers against sexual assault and domestic violence is essential as too many of our nation’s heroes continue to be targeted while they serve,” Sen. Ossoff said.

The legislation will require the Department of Defense to collect data on the causes of sexual assault, sexual harassment, and domestic violence in the military to contribute to the Department’s sexual assault and harassment prevention research agenda.

The bill will also require DoD to collaborate with public health institutions on their research and prevention methods.
