Barnesville, Ga. — U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff is delivering resources to upgrade water infrastructure in Barnesville.
Sen. Ossoff brought Republicans and Democrats in Congress together to deliver Federal funding for the City of Barnesville’s multi-phase sewer improvement project. The Federal funding will help the City of Barnesville work to replace their small, antiquated sanitary sewer system.
According to local leaders, during rain events, the City’s sewer system is consistently overloaded, causing untreated sewage to overflow and spill into the surrounding area, contaminating the soil, nearby waters, and the potential to contaminate ground water.
Working alongside Senator Reverend Raphael Warnock, Sen. Ossoff is delivering $2,000,000 for the project through bipartisan government funding legislation that became law on January 23.
“I’m delivering new resources to upgrade wastewater infrastructure for families in Barnesville,” Sen. Ossoff said. “I will continue working to secure upgrades for Georgia’s infrastructure to keep communities safe and upgrade quality of life.”
