Sen. Ossoff Secures Commitment from Top Biden Nominee to Help Him Make Georgia a Leader in Clean Energy

Dalton, Ga. home to largest solar module manufacturing plant in the Western Hemisphere

Washington, D.C. –– Sen. Ossoff is continuing his push to make Georgia the nation’s leading manufacturer of clean energy technology.

In a Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee hearing today, Sen. Ossoff secured a commitment from a top Biden Administration nominee to work with him and Georgia clean energy companies to help them export more of their products worldwide.

Sen. Ossoff is a consistent champion for Georgia’s booming clean energy economy. In April, he brokered a deal to save 2,600 clean energy jobs at the SK Electric Vehicle battery plant in Commerce.

He has also introduced landmark legislation to rapidly scale the American solar manufacturing industry, with Georgia hosting Q Cells in Dalton, the largest solar module manufacturing plant in the Western Hemisphere.

Reta Jo Lewis, a Georgia native and President Biden’s nominee to lead the Export-Import Bank, committed to working with Sen. Ossoff to boost Georgia’s clean energy exports.

SEN. OSSOFF: “Georgia is also rapidly becoming a global leader in clean energy manufacturing and technology. We host in Georgia, in Dalton, the largest solar module production facility in the Western Hemisphere. We have one of the country’s largest electric vehicle battery plants in Commerce, Georgia. My goal is to make Georgia the national leader in clean energy technology. And that means exporting the clean energy products we manufacture in Georgia around the world. So I want to ask you a similar question. Will you commit to working with me and business leaders in Georgia, who are producing clean energy products to maximize their opportunities to export these products?”

LEWIS: “Yes, Senator, I will commit to you and working with other members on this committee since especially since the Congress placed a high priority on EXIM working with exporters and foreign buyers to support clean and renewable energy exports.”
