Sen. Ossoff Requests Answers About Baby Bib and Blanket Safety Following Recalls

Washington, D.C. — U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff is requesting answers about the safety of baby bibs and blankets following a recent recall.

Last week, Little Sleepies recalled their “Sleepyhead Loveys” and “Bandana Bibs” due to potential choking hazards with the detachable care instruction label.

Today, Sen. Ossoff launched an inquiry with Little Sleepies CEO, Maradith Frenkel, demanding answers about the safety of their products, what they are doing to ensure the safety of other products currently being sold, and what will be done to prevent the dangerous oversights like this from happening again.

“The CPSC (Consumer Product Safety Commission) found the instruction label on the Sleepyhead Lovey and Bandana Bib can detach, resulting in a choking hazard for infants and young children,” wrote Sen. Ossoff to Little Sleepies CEO, Maradith Frenkel.

Sen. Ossoff requested Little Sleepies answer the following questions in writing:

  1. How will you ensure that future Sleepyhead Loveys and Bandana Bibs are safe for infants?
  2. Will you be removing the tags altogether on Sleepyhead Loveys and Bandana Bibs given the recent safety concerns?
  3. Do you have other products with similar manufacturing & safety concerns?

The recalled products were sold at boutique stores nationwide and on the Little Sleepies website from February 2021 to September 2023.

Sen. Ossoff continues to advocate for the safety and well-being of children across Georgia.

Last year, Sen. Ossoff demanded answers from Green Sprouts about the safety of their child drinking cups after they recalled them due to lead contamination risks.

Last year, Sen. Ossoff also pressed the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) to improve efficiency and coordination in processing product recalls in order to protect families from dangerous products in 2022.
