Sen. Ossoff, Colleagues Urge Senate Leadership to “Immediately” Vote on Bill to Release Epstein Files

Washington, D.C. — U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff is urging Senate leadership to “immediately” vote on the bill to release the Epstein Files.

Following the bipartisan passage of the Epstein Files Transparency Act (H.R. 4405) by the U.S. House of Representatives, Sen. Ossoff and a group of Senate colleagues are urging Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) to immediately bring the bill up for a vote.

“We call on you to immediately bring the Epstein Files Transparency Act (H.R. 4405) to a vote on the Senate floor,” Sen. Ossoff and colleagues wrote to Majority Leader Thune. “The victims of Jeffrey Epstein – and the American people – deserve answers, accountability and the truth.”

Sen. Ossoff continues working to support victims of sexual abuse and exploitation.

Last month, the Senate passed the bipartisan Strengthening Child Exploitation Enforcement Act, co-sponsored by Sen. Ossoff, to close loopholes that make kidnapping, sexual abuse, and child exploitation harder to prosecute.

In January, Sen. Ossoff launched a bipartisan inquiry with then-U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland and FBI Director Christopher Wray, urging them to address chronic understaffing in positions aimed at addressing reported child sexual abuse and exploitation.

Last year, Sen. Ossoff’s bipartisan REPORT Act was signed into law, requiring websites and social media platforms to report crimes involving Federal trafficking and enticement of children to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). A May study showed that since the bill’s signing it has helped uncover thousands of alleged crimes against children.
