Sen. Ossoff Helps Pass Senate Resolution Commemorating 75th Anniversary of Korean War

Washington, D.C. — Yesterday, U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff helped pass a bipartisan U.S. Senate Resolution commemorating the 75th anniversary of the Korean War and the strength of the U.S.-South Korea alliance.

The U.S. Senate passed the resolution unanimously.

“June 25, 2025, marks the 75th anniversary of the outbreak of the brutal three-year conflict known as the Korean War, which began when the armed forces of North Korea launched a full-scale invasion of the Republic of Korea,” the bipartisan resolution supported by Sen. Ossoff says.

“The defense of the Republic of Korea by United States and allied forces allowed for the development of the modern Republic of Korea into a robust market economy, a vibrant democracy, a strong ally of the United States, and a bedrock contributor to regional stability and the global community,” the bipartisan resolution continues.

Sen. Ossoff has been a strong advocate for the Korean American community in Georgia and remains a leader in the U.S. Senate pursuing stronger relations with South Korea, maintaining frequent contact with senior South Korean diplomatic and economic officials.

Last year, Sen. Ossoff cosponsored the bipartisan Divided Families National Registry Act, legislation that would help reconnect Korean Americans with family in North Korea.

Sen. Ossoff also cosponsored the bipartisan Partner with Korea Act to encourage greater ties between American and Korean businesses.

In 2023, Sen. Ossoff, alongside Senators Dan Sullivan (R-AK), Brian Schatz (D-HI), and Todd Young (R-IN), launched the U.S. Senate Korea Caucus to advance and strengthen the relationship and alliance between the United States and the Republic of Korea.

Sen. Ossoff has also led two economic delegations to Korea to continue pushing for additional Korean investment in Georgia and to strengthen the vital alliance.
