Sens. Ossoff, Hyde-Smith Introduce Bipartisan Bill to Cut Taxes for Small Businesses

Washington, D.C. — U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff is introducing a bipartisan bill to cut taxes for Georgia’s small businesses.

Sens. Ossoff and Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-MS) recently introduced the bipartisan Support Small Business Growth Act of 2025 to cut income taxes for qualifying small businesses with up to 15 employees.

The bipartisan bill would create a new tax deduction for qualifying small businesses with fewer than 15 employees based on a percentage of wages paid to employees during the year.

“Small businesses are the backbone of our economy,” Sen. Ossoff said. “Our bipartisan bill will cut taxes for small businesses and make it easier for them to compete, grow, and create jobs in our communities.”

“Small businesses often operate on a very thin profit margin, especially those with very few employees.  This legislation would create a special tax deduction to help these small businesses, many of them mom-and-pop operations, retain workers and keep the doors open,” Sen. Hyde-Smith said.

Sen. Ossoff continues working to support Georgia small businesses.

In August, Sen. Ossoff introduced the bipartisan Service-Disabled Veteran Opportunities in Small Business Act with Sen. John Kennedy (R-LA) to help disabled veterans’ small businesses thrive.

In May, Sen. Ossoff cosponsored the bipartisan Simplifying Subcontracting Act to simplify the process for small businesses to win Federal contracts.

Last year, Sen. Ossoff passed into law his bipartisan Investing in VETS Act to help service-disabled veteran business owners compete for Federal government contracts, helping expand their business opportunities to new markets.
