Sen. Ossoff Again Demands Release of Evyatar David, Israeli Hostages in Gaza

Atlanta, Ga. — U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff today released the following statement.

“Evyatar David has been in captivity now for nearly two years.

“Hamas terrorists recently released footage in which Evyatar was tormented and exploited for purposes of propaganda.

“Again I call for the release of Evyatar and all hostages held in Gaza. I join leaders across Georgia’s Jewish community who have banded together to ‘adopt’ Evyatar in refusing to allow his captivity to be forgotten.

“I first met Evyatar’s brother, Ilay, when he visited Atlanta, and then hosted him at my Senate office in Washington. I remain inspired by the tenacity of his hope, and by his relentless effort to ensure his brother is not forgotten. Ever since our meeting I have kept a framed photo of Evyatar in my office and there it will remain until he is free.

“As I demanded on the Senate floor: Free Evyatar David.”

Since the October 7 massacre, Sen. Ossoff has met repeatedly with the families of Israeli hostages in the U.S. and in Israel as he continues to advocate for the release of all hostages to their families.

Sen. Ossoff first met with Ilay David at the beginning of May in Atlanta and invited him to Capitol Hill to raise awareness about his brother Evyatar. Together, the two have advocated for his release.

This May, Sen. Ossoff delivered a speech on the Senate floor to demand the release of Evyatar David and all of the remaining hostages held in Gaza by Hamas.

Alongside several synagogues and Jewish organizations across Atlanta, Sen. Ossoff “adopted” Evyatar’s case to spread the word and advocate for his immediate release.
