Sen. Ossoff Delivering Funds to Build More Housing in Baldwin County

Milledgeville, Ga. — U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff is delivering funds to build new affordable housing for Middle Georgia families.

Sen. Ossoff brought Republicans and Democrats together to deliver Federal funding to the Baldwin County Board of Commissioners, which plans to work alongside Habitat for Humanity Milledgeville-Baldwin County to build new affordable housing units in Baldwin County.

Sen. Ossoff is delivering $1,312,000 for the project through bipartisan government funding legislation that became law on February 3.

“Georgia families urgently need more affordable housing. That’s why I brought Republicans and Democrats together to help build new housing units for families in Baldwin County,” Sen. Ossoff said.

“Every family deserves a place to call home and we are so grateful for this opportunity to work with Senator Ossoff and Baldwin County to bring additional housing to the community. This funding will allow 10 local families to achieve their dream of homeownership. We look forward to working alongside Habitat families, community volunteers and sub contractors to build these new homes over the next few years. We know this investment will have a ripple effect starting with new homes, leading to neighborhood stabilization and more families building generational wealth in Baldwin County,” said Ivey Hall, Executive Director, Habitat for Humanity Milledgeville-Baldwin County.

“I am ecstatic that Senator Ossoff prioritized affordable homeownership for 10 worthy local Baldwin County families. The $1.3 million grant will do just that. We are especially proud that Baldwin County was the only government agency in Georgia awarded a grant to build affordable homes. Baldwin County recognizes that many families are cost-burdened and have a difficult time finding an affordable home. The county is providing land and waiving fees to show its commitment to helping our families. Baldwin County also recognizes it needs a partner like Habitat for Humanity to deliver affordable homes in the community,” said Carlos Tobar, County Manager, Baldwin County, and Habitat for Humanity Milledgeville-Baldwin County Board Member.
