Ossoff called on U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken to bolster the American medical system and address the ongoing shortages by recruiting qualified nurses and health care professionals from around the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHealth care professionals from around the world have played vital roles throughout the course of the COVID-19 pandemic and are crucial members of our nation\u2019s health care workforce. I urge you to take immediate action and direct the State Department to increase the resources available to address this backlog of health care professionals,\u201d&nbsp;<strong>Sen. Ossoff wrote.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to&nbsp;<em>The Atlanta Journal-Constitution<\/em>, the nursing shortage in Georgia is at \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ajc.com\/news\/coronavirus\/georgia-nursing-shortage-at-crisis-levels\/G37X6GW2HRDEXGWB6OS6OBA5KE\/\">crisis levels<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Georgia currently has one of the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/nursejournal.org\/articles\/the-us-nursing-shortage-state-by-state-breakdown\/\">lowest nurse-to-population ratios<\/a>&nbsp;in the country, with only 10 nurses to every 1,000 people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ossoff.senate.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/21.11.04_Ossoff-Letter-to-Blinken.pdf\">Click here<\/a>&nbsp;to read Sen.
