Ossoff.&nbsp;<\/strong>\u201cThis is a huge win for Georgia and a testament to what we can accomplish when we work together.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In April, Sen. Ossoff&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ossoff.senate.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/2021-04-20_Letter-to-Chair-Carper-re-Remediation-of-lead-in-pipes-at-public-schools.pdf\">called<\/a>&nbsp;on the Senate to pass&nbsp;historic funding to ensure public schools had clean drinking water, pointing to how Georgia, along with 22 other states, received an \u201cF\u201d in a non-profit \u201cGet the Lead Out\u201d study that looked at protecting students from lead in drinking water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Following his push, the Senate included his provision in the larger&nbsp;<em>Drinking Water and Wastewater Infrastructure Act<\/em>, which was folded into the bipartisan&nbsp;<em>Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Currently, Georgia\u2019s State Board of Education is testing 800 schools for lead in drinking&nbsp;water, and preliminary estimates suggest high levels of lead in hundreds of Georgia school faucets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"># # #<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>State of Georgia estimates high lead levels in hundreds of Georgia public schools Bipartisan bill includes largest-ever investment in clean water Washington, D.C.&nbsp;\u2013\u2013&nbsp;U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff\u2019s provision to repair and remove lead water pipes from public schools in Georgia and across the country passed as part of the Senate\u2019s bipartisan infrastructure bill.
