The City of Forsyth will receive nearly $3 million in grants and over $27 million in federal loans from the U.S. Department of Agriculture to update, improve local water and wastewater systems<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The two projects set to benefit nearly 4,000 Georgians by improving water treatment facility, water quality, and addressing water demand<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Washington, D.C.<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Today, U.S. Senators\u00a0Jon\u00a0Ossoff, Reverend\u00a0Warnock, and Representative Austin Scott (GA-08) announced new federal funding coming to Forsyth, GA to improve the their\u00a0water and wastewater systems and to address health and sanitary concerns. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced over $307 million in grants and federal loans to modernize rural drinking water systems and improve local wastewater management, including over $30 million for two projects in Forsyth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The federal funding headed to Forsyth, GA will upgrade the city\u2019s existing water treatment facility and raw water intake facilities that have exceeded functional capacity over time from use. The funding will also help to address rising water demand by modernizing the city\u2019s water management systems, and supporting the health and well-being of local residents. Together, these projects are expected to benefit an estimated 3,890 Georgians by improving their access to clean water and strengthening the local wastewater infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cInvesting in infrastructure, especially in Georgia\u2019s rural communities, improves quality of life,\u201d<\/em><\/strong> said Senator Reverend Warnock. \u201cI am proud to see these federal investments flow to Forsyth to help them address longstanding water quality issues. I\u2019m going to keep fighting alongside my colleagues to make sure the federal government is doing its part for hardworking families in Monroe County and those across rural Georgia.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
