Ossoff &#038; Warnock Secure $2 Million in Funding to Support the Creation of Nearly 700 Jobs &#038; Expansion of Georgia Ports"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><em>Hall County Inland Port will provide a direct link to the Port of Savannah<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><em>Georgia Ports Authority:\u00a0\u201cImprovements to adjacent roadways will further increase the public safety, economic development and job creation opportunities of the planned inland port.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Washington, D.C.&nbsp;<\/strong>\u2014 Today, Georgia U.S. Senators Jon Ossoff and Reverend Raphael Warnock and U.S. Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo announced a $2 million grant for road and infrastructure improvements necessary for the establishment of a new Inland Port in Hall County, Georgia, that will allow expansion of operations through the Port of Savannah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The planned&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/gaports.com\/facilities\/inland-ports\/northeast-georgia-inland-port\/\">Northeast Georgia Inland Port<\/a>&nbsp;will provide a direct link to the Port of Savannah via Norfolk Southern.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This new federal funding, which comes from the U.S. Department of Commerce\u2019s Economic Development Administration (EDA), is expected to create nearly 700 jobs and generate $185 million in private investment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAs promised, we are delivering resources to create Georgia jobs by upgrading our infrastructure and expanding Georgia\u2019s ports,\u201d&nbsp;<strong>said Sen. Ossoff.<\/strong>&nbsp;\u201cI thank Commerce Secretary Raimondo and President Biden for their continued support for our efforts to improve Georgia\u2019s infrastructure, create jobs, and invest in Georgia\u2019s ports.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWhen we invest in our infrastructure, we help bolster our state\u2019s economy and create local jobs, benefiting Georgia\u2019s workers and families. I am proud to see these funds go to Hall County, and will keep fighting for additional federal investments that will help strengthen our transportation infrastructure and manufacturing capacity in northeast Georgia,\u201d&nbsp;<strong>said Sen. Rev. Warnock.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cPresident Biden is committed to helping communities grow their critical industries to improve regional economies across the nation,\u201d&nbsp;<strong>said U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina M. Raimondo<\/strong>. \u201cThis EDA investment in Hall County will facilitate the expansion of the region\u2019s research and development sector while improving the Georgia Ports Authority inland ports, creating new economic opportunities and jobs for local citizens.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt is exciting to see this funding in place,\u201d&nbsp;<strong>said Griff Lynch, Georgia Ports Authority\u2019s executive director<\/strong>. \u201cImprovements to adjacent roadways will further increase the public safety, economic development and job creation opportunities of the planned inland port.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sen. Ossoff, a fierce advocate for the Port of Savannah and Georgia\u2019s regional economy, has worked with both public and private sector officials to secure funding for the port throughout his time in the U.S. Senate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In March, Sen. Ossoff secured commitments from&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ossoff.senate.gov\/es\/press-releases\/sen-ossoff-secures-commitment-from-transportation-secretary-buttigieg-to-ensure-timely-completion-of-port-of-savannah-deepening-project\/\">Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg<\/a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ossoff.senate.gov\/es\/press-releases\/watch-sen-ossoff-secures-pledge-from-biden-nominee-to-support-military-base-housing-improvements-at-ft-benning-and-ft-gordon-complete-deepening-of-port-of-savannah\/\">Deputy Director of the Office of Management and Budget Shalanda Young<\/a>&nbsp;to work to fund the completion of the Port of Savannah deepening project. Last month, Sen. Ossoff&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/fox28media.com\/news\/local\/senator-jon-ossoff-visits-port-of-savannah-inspects-expansion-efforts\">inspected the Port\u2019s expansion and deepening projects<\/a>&nbsp;and once again pledged to fight to secure the necessary funding to complete the projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sen. Ossoff also recently secured commitments from&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ossoff.senate.gov\/es\/press-releases\/watch-sen-ossoff-secures-commitments-on-investment-in-infrastructure-clean-energy-from-ceos-of-major-u-s-banks\/\">top executives at some of America\u2019s largest banks<\/a>&nbsp;to work on expanding private investment in infrastructure, transportation, and clean energy \u2014 including the Port of Savannah deepening project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sen. Rev.
