The Department of Housing and Urban Development will provide over $11 million in new Emergency Housing Vouchers to AUGUSTA, SAVANNAH, COLUMBUS, ATLANTA, MACON, MARIETTA, ALBANY, AMERICUS, JONESBORO, and DECATUR <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Funding provided through American Rescue Plan, passed with help from Sens. Warnock and Ossoff<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\u00a0<\/em>Housing Choice Voucher Programwill assist individuals\u00a0with\u00a0low-income, as well as families navigating\u00a0homelessness and housing insecurity<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Washington, D.C<\/strong>. \u2014 Today, U.S. Senators Jon Ossoff\u00a0(D-GA) and Reverend Warnock\u00a0(D-GA)\u00a0announced over $11 million in funding to housing authority units across Georgia to combat homelessness,\u00a0housing instability,\u00a0unsafe\u00a0living conditions, and human trafficking across the state. Provided through the Department of Housing and Urban Development\u2019s\u00a0Housing Choice Voucher Program<\/em>, the\u00a0funding will be disbursed to local public housing agencies to help\u00a0ensure\u00a0working people have access to\u00a0safe living conditions\u00a0in rural, urban and suburban parts of the state. The housing vouchers will assist Georgians\u00a0with\u00a0low-incomes and Georgians who are\u00a0elderly, disabled,\u00a0and\/or homeless\u00a0by helping them\u00a0afford safe and\u00a0secure\u00a0housing,\u00a0and recover from the economic and social challenges heightened by the pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe COVID-19 pandemic intensified the challenges that too many Georgians face every day, like finding and maintaining safe, affordable housing. The American Rescue Plan is delivering this crucial funding to help Georgians who need it most, and any Georgian struggling to access housing or rental assistance resources should contact my office \u2014 we are here to\u00a0help,\u201d\u00a0said<\/strong>\u00a0Senator Ossoff.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI am grateful\u00a0we were able to pass this legislation that\u2019s now sending\u00a0federal funding directly to\u00a0support\u00a0the most vulnerable\u00a0families and individuals\u00a0in\u00a0Georgia,\u201d\u00a0said\u00a0Senator Reverend Warnock<\/strong>.\u00a0\u201cWe cannot underestimate the importance\u00a0of stable, secure housing to maintaining the health and safety of families and communities in our state,\u00a0especially as\u00a0we begin to overcome this once-in-a-century pandemic\u00a0that\u2019s\u00a0only heightened\u00a0housing disparities.\u00a0I will continue fighting\u00a0for the federal support needed to keep Georgians safely housed.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
