Ossoff Backing Bipartisan Bill to Expand Technical Skills Training Programs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Washington, D.C.&nbsp;<\/strong>\u2014 U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff is backing a bipartisan bill to expand housing construction training programs in Georgia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sen. Ossoff is cosponsoring the bipartisan&nbsp;<em>Creating Opportunities for New Skills Training at Rural or Underserved Colleges and Trade Schools (CONSTRUCTS) Act of 2025<\/em>&nbsp;to help address the affordable housing crisis by helping train more students in housing construction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The bill, first introduced by Sens. Jacky Rosen (D-NV) and Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), would establish a new Federal grant program for residential housing construction programs at technical schools and community colleges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the National Association of Home Builders, the residential housing industry faces a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nahb.org\/blog\/2025\/01\/constructs-act\">shortage<\/a>&nbsp;of between 200,000 and 400,000 construction workers in any given month.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cGeorgia families urgently need more affordable housing. I am working with Republicans and Democrats to pass this legislation to create good-paying jobs and help build more homes across our state,\u201d&nbsp;<strong>Sen. Ossoff said.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sen. Ossoff continues working to lower housing prices for Georgia families.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In March, Sen. Ossoff helped&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ossoff.senate.gov\/es\/press-releases\/sen-ossoff-helps-pass-bipartisan-legislation-to-lower-housing-costs\/\">pass<\/a>&nbsp;the bipartisan&nbsp;<em>21st Century ROAD to Housing Act<\/em>, aimed at making housing more affordable in Georgia and across the Nation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2026, Sen. Ossoff&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ossoff.senate.gov\/es\/press-releases\/sen-ossoff-delivering-funds-to-build-more-housing-in-hall-county\/\">delivered<\/a>&nbsp;$1,005,000 in Federal resources to Habitat for Humanity of Hall County to support efforts to build a new home development in the City of Gainesville, and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ossoff.senate.gov\/es\/press-releases\/sen-ossoff-delivering-funds-to-build-more-housing-in-baldwin-county\/\">delivered<\/a>&nbsp;$1,312,000 to the Baldwin County Board of Commissioners, which plans to work alongside Habitat for Humanity Milledgeville-Baldwin County, to build new affordable housing units in Baldwin County.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Last August, Sen. Ossoff brought Republicans and Democrats together to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ossoff.senate.gov\/es\/press-releases\/news-sen-ossoff-directing-federal-watchdog-to-help-solve-housing-affordability-crisis\/\">require<\/a>&nbsp;a Federal watchdog investigation into the housing affordability crisis and to help ID solutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2025, Sen. Ossoff&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ossoff.senate.gov\/es\/press-releases\/new-sen-ossoff-launches-investigation-into-large-out-of-state-companies-driving-up-home-prices-in-georgia\/\">launched an investigation<\/a>&nbsp;into large, out-of-state companies purchasing single-family homes across the State of Georgia, raising prices for families and reducing the supply of family homes available for purchase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also in 2025, Sens. Ossoff and Ashley Moody (R-FL)&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ossoff.senate.gov\/es\/press-releases\/sens-ossoff-moody-introduce-bipartisan-bill-to-make-homeownership-more-affordable-for-first-responders-teachers\/\">introduced<\/a>&nbsp;the bipartisan&nbsp;<em>Homes for Every Local Protector, Educator, and Responder (HELPER) Act of 2025<\/em>, which would establish a new home loan program under the Federal Housing Administration (FHA) to help law enforcement, fire fighters, medical first responders, and teachers buy homes in the communities they serve.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2024, Sen.
