Ossoff Working to Crack Down on AI Improperly Denying Needed Health Care"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Washington, D.C.&nbsp;<\/strong>\u2014 U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff is working to crack down on the use of artificial intelligence to deny needed health care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sen. Ossoff is&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.finance.senate.gov\/imo\/media\/doc\/052026_wiser_cra_resolution.pdf\">cosponsoring a Senate resolution<\/a>&nbsp;to stop the Trump Administration from allowing artificial intelligence to improperly deny seniors\u2019 needed health care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This year, the Trump Administration\u2019s Centers for Medicare &amp; Medicaid Services (CMS) launched the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kff.org\/medicare\/examining-the-potential-impact-of-medicares-new-wiser-model\/\">Wasteful and Inappropriate Service Reduction (WISeR) Model,<\/a>&nbsp;a pilot program that uses \u201ctechnologies such as artificial intelligence to review the appropriateness of select services in six states over a six-year trial period.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Congressional Review Act resolution, led by Senator Ron Wyden (D-OR), would repeal the WISeR Model, stopping the Trump Administration from using AI to deny seniors\u2019 care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe abuse of prior authorization practices has led to Georgians being denied life-saving medication and waiting months for the care they need,\u201d&nbsp;<strong>Sen. Ossoff said.<\/strong>&nbsp;\u201cGeorgians shouldn\u2019t have to worry that artificial intelligence will improperly deny them needed care.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sen. Ossoff continues to work to ban insurance companies from denying or delaying needed health care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In June, during the Senate\u2019s vote series, Sen. Ossoff offered an amendment to prevent\u00a0insurance\u00a0companies from denying or delaying needed health care, but\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ossoff.senate.gov\/es\/press-releases\/video-republicans-block-sen-ossoffs-amendment-to-prevent-insrance-companies-from-denying-or-delaying-needed-health-care\/\">Senate Republicans blocked Sen. Ossoff\u2019s amendment<\/a>. This followed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ossoff.senate.gov\/es\/press-releases\/watch-republicans-block-sen-ossoffs-amendment-to-prevent-insurance-companies-from-denying-or-delaying-needed-health-care\/\">Senate Republicans blocking Sen. Ossoff\u2019s amendment<\/a>\u00a0during a Senate budget debate in April.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In April, Sen.
