East Point, Ga. <\/strong>\u2014 U.S. Senators Jon Ossoff and Reverend Raphael Warnock, alongside Congresswoman Lucy McBath (GA-06), are delivering resources to upgrade drinking water infrastructure in East Point. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sens. Ossoff and Rev. Warnock and Rep. McBath brought Republicans and Democrats in Congress together to deliver Federal funding for the City of East Point to install PFAS removal filters to existing drinking water pipes, helping improve drinking water quality for families. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sens. Ossoff and Rev. Warnock and Rep. McBath are delivering $1,250,000 for the project through bipartisan government funding legislation that became law on January 23.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cEvery town in Georgia deserves safe, effective water infrastructure,\u201d said Sen. Ossoff. <\/strong>\u201cThat\u2019s why we bought Republicans and Democrats together to upgrade water infrastructure in East Point.\u201d   <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAccess to safe and clean drinking water provides vital peace of mind,\u201d said Senator Warnock. <\/strong>\u201cI am proud to have worked alongside my Georgia colleagues to bring over $1.2 million in drinking water infrastructure upgrades to the East Point community.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cPFAS contamination is a serious public health concern,\u201d McBath said.<\/strong> \u201cI was pleased to work with my colleagues in the Georgia delegation to deliver funding to remove \u201cforever chemicals\u201d to improve and protect the city\u2019s drinking water supply. All people deserve access to safe and clean drinking water.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe City of East Point thanks U.S. Senators Jon Ossoff and Reverend Raphael Warnock, and well as Representative Lucy McBath for securing $1,250,000 in federal funding through the Fiscal Year 2026 Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies appropriations bill to support critical drinking water treatment upgrades for East Point, Georgia residents. The funding will be used to install granular activated carbon (GAC) filtration to reduce per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in the City\u2019s drinking water, strengthening public health protections and improving water quality. This investment will modernize East Point\u2019s water treatment infrastructure, enhance long-term system reliability, and help ensure residents have access to clean, safe drinking water while reducing costs. The city appreciates Sen. Ossoff, Warnock, and Rep. McBath\u2019s continued leadership and advocacy on behalf of East Point and Georgia communities,\u201d said Mayor Keisha Chapman, City Manager Redmond Jones II, and Melissa Echevarria, Water Resources Director.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This new funding comes after Sen. Ossoff last year delivered<\/a> $15 million for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to design and then work on water infrastructure upgrades in East Point, made possible by Sen. Ossoff passing into law<\/a> his East Point Water Infrastructure Enhancement Act.<\/em> <\/p>\n\n\n\n
