Washington, D.C. <\/strong>\u2014 U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff is working to expand mental health care for Georgia veterans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sen. Ossoff recently cosponsored the Building Resources and Access for Veterans’ Mental Health Engagement Act (BRAVE) of 2025<\/em> to expand mental health care services for veterans through the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the American Psychological Association, VA reports throughout 2025 showed a monthly decline in psychologists employed by the Veterans Health Administration, with 57% of medical centers<\/a> reporting a shortage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The bill, first introduced by Sens. Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) and Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) would improve access to mental health services at VA Vet Centers by increasing the number of eligible providers, strengthening the infrastructure and technology of current facilities, and funding new efforts to support women veterans, suicide prevention programs, and outreach programs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cToo often, mental health issues go untreated because the resources and support aren\u2019t there. Our veterans deserve better, and this legislation will help ensure Georgia veterans get the quality mental health care they need,\u201d Sen. Ossoff said.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sen. Ossoff continues working to support Georgia\u2019s servicemembers, veterans, and military families.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sen. Ossoff recently cosponsored<\/a> the Service Dogs Assisting Veterans Act of 2025<\/em> to help connect veterans with service dogs who help veterans facing service-related disabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last month, Sen. Ossoff cosponsored<\/a> the bipartisan Housing Unhoused Disabled Veterans Act (HUDVA)<\/em>, first introduced by Sens. Alex Padilla (D-CA) and Dave McCormick (R-PA), to ensure that veterans can more fairly access affordable housing options.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In December, Sen. Ossoff cosponsored<\/a> the bipartisan Helping Heroes Act<\/em> to expand supportive services for families of disabled veterans, including children taking on caregiving roles for their parents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also in 2025, Sens. Ossoff and John Kennedy (R-LA) introduced<\/a> the Service-Disabled Veteran Opportunities in Small Business Act<\/em> to help disabled veterans\u2019 small businesses thrive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
