Ossoff is delivering Federal funding to\u00a0expand the supply of\u00a0naloxone\u00a0(narcan),\u00a0a\u00a0drug used to rapidly reverse opioid overdoses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sen. Ossoff is delivering funding to the Georgia Council for Recovery, a&nbsp;nonprofit that provides recovery support services and works to prevent opioid overdoses.&nbsp;With the funding, Georgia Council for Recovery and its partner, Georgia Overdose Prevention, plans to install more&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/georgiaoverdoseprevention.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Naloxone Distribution&nbsp;Boxes (NDBs)<\/a>&nbsp;across Georgia, which are boxes, receptacles, and vending machines community members can&nbsp;access to obtain&nbsp;naloxone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sen. Ossoff is delivering $357,000&nbsp;for the project through bipartisan&nbsp;government funding legislation&nbsp;that became law on&nbsp;February 3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cLike so many Georgians,&nbsp;I\u2019ve&nbsp;lost friends to the opioid epidemic.&nbsp;These resources, which&nbsp;I\u2019ve&nbsp;secured with bipartisan&nbsp;support, will help save lives and address the opioid crisis,\u201d&nbsp;<strong>Sen. Ossoff said.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAfter losing my son&nbsp;Zack to an&nbsp;opiate overdose in&nbsp;2011, I worked to pass Georgia\u2019s \u2018Don\u2019t Run&nbsp;\u2013 Call 911\u2019 law so people&nbsp;wouldn\u2019t&nbsp;be afraid to call for help during an&nbsp;overdose. Since 2014, we have been&nbsp;distributing&nbsp;naloxone to people at risk and their families.
