Ossoff Backing Bipartisan Legislation to Help Blind Georgians"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Washington, D.C.&nbsp;<\/strong>\u2014&nbsp;U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff is backing bipartisan legislation to help blind Georgians afford Braille readers and other specialized technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sen. Ossoff is backing the bipartisan&nbsp;<em>Access Technology Affordability Act of 2025<\/em>&nbsp;to help make specialized reading and other technology, like Braille readers, more accessible by creating a refundable Federal tax credit to help cover the cost.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The bipartisan legislation, first introduced by Sens. John Boozman (R-AR) and Ben Ray Luj\u00e1n (D-NM), would create a tax credit of up to $2,000 over a three-year period for individuals with visual impairments to purchase these technologies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBlind Georgians don\u2019t deserve to be excluded from classrooms, workplaces, or communities because specialized technologies are too expensive,\u201d&nbsp;<strong>said Sen. Ossoff.<\/strong>&nbsp;\u201cI am working with Republicans and Democrats in Congress to make this specialized technology more affordable.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sen. Ossoff continues working to support Georgians with disabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Last month, Sen. Ossoff, who serves as Ranking Member of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Military Construction and Veterans Affairs,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ossoff.senate.gov\/es\/press-releases\/sen-ossoff-blasts-va-after-proposal-that-would-cut-future-benefits-for-disabled-veterans\/\">sought answers<\/a>&nbsp;from Veterans Affairs Secretary Doug Collins following a proposed rule that would have placed benefits for disabled veterans in Georgia and across the nation at risk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In April 2025, Sen. Ossoff&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ossoff.senate.gov\/es\/press-releases\/sen-ossoff-pushing-to-strengthen-support-for-georgians-with-disabilities-2\/\">launched a push<\/a>&nbsp;to pass the bipartisan<em>&nbsp;Ensuring Nationwide Access to a Better Life Experience (ENABLE) Act<\/em>, legislation he cosponsored to extend tax benefits for people with disabilities and help them save for future expenses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Last January, Sens.
