Washington, D.C. <\/strong>\u2014 A bipartisan bill backed by U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff to strengthen cancer screenings for Georgia seniors has become law. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sen. Ossoff worked with Republicans and Democrats to expand access to early-detection cancer screenings for seniors in Georgia. The bipartisan Medicare Multi-Cancer Early Detection Screening Coverage Act<\/em>, cosponsored<\/a> by Sen. Ossoff, was signed into law on February 3 as part of bipartisan government funding legislation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new law allows Medicare to cover multi-cancer early detection screening tests once they are approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), aiming to help more seniors get screened early for cancer. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019m always fighting for Georgia’s seniors and seniors’ health, and that\u2019s why I cosponsored this bill to have Medicare cover these multicancer screening tests that can check for different kinds of cancer all at once to support early detection,\u201d Sen. Ossoff said.<\/strong> \u201cI’m pleased that this bill I cosponsored is now law.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sen. Ossoff continues working to increase Georgians\u2019 access to lifesaving health care. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In February, Sen. Ossoff cosponsored<\/a> the bipartisan Safe Step Act<\/em> to help prevent insurance companies from delaying Georgians\u2019 access to medical care. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In January, the bipartisan Honoring Our Fallen Heroes Act<\/em>, a bill cosponsored by Sen. Ossoff, was signed into law<\/a> as part of the NDAA to expand support for Georgia first responders battling service-related cancers or injuries. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also in January, Sen. Ossoff cosponsored<\/a> the bipartisan States Handling Access to Reciprocity for Employment (SHARE) Act of 2025<\/em> to help reduce Georgia\u2019s shortage of health care workers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2025, Sen. Ossoff cosponsored<\/a> the bipartisan Resident Education Deferred Interest (REDI) Act<\/em>, which would allow recent graduates of medical school to defer their student loan payments without interest while they serve in a medical or dental internship or residency program, aiming to reduce the shortage of medical professionals in Georgia. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
