Washington, D.C. <\/strong>\u2014 U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff helped pass bipartisan legislation to make housing more affordable for Georgia families.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yesterday, Sen. Ossoff helped pass the bipartisan 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act, <\/em>aimed at making housing more affordable in Georgia and across the Nation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The bipartisan bill<\/a> includes provisions to help build more homes across the country, lowering home prices for families and making homeownership more attainable. The bipartisan bill also includes a provision to limit large, out-of-state companies from buying up single-family homes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cGeorgia families urgently need more affordable housing. That\u2019s why we brought Republicans and Democrats together to pass this legislation and help families across Georgia and the nation,\u201d Sen. Ossoff said<\/strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sen. Ossoff continues working to lower housing prices for Georgia families.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last August, Sen. Ossoff brought Republicans and Democrats together to require<\/a> a Federal watchdog investigation into the housing affordability crisis and to help ID solutions to the crisis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2025, Sen. Ossoff launched an investigation<\/a> into large, out-of-state companies purchasing single-family homes across the State of Georgia, raising prices for families and reducing the supply of family homes available for purchase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also in 2025, Sens. Ossoff and Ashley Moody (R-FL) introduced<\/a> the bipartisan Homes for Every Local Protector, Educator, and Responder (HELPER) Act of 2025<\/em>, which would establish a new home loan program under the Federal Housing Administration (FHA) for law enforcement, fire fighters, medical first responders, and teachers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2024, Sen. Ossoff introduced<\/a> the Access to Homeownership Act<\/em> to require landlords that receive financing through the Federal government, including through Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac, for multifamily properties like apartment buildings to offer tenants the ability to have their on-time rental payments reported to credit bureaus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2024, Sen. Ossoff delivered<\/a> $2,000,000 in Federal resources to Atlanta Habitat for Humanity, supporting its ongoing work in the Browns Mill Village Development, a mixed-income community of owner-occupied homes in Atlanta, and Sens. Ossoff and Rev. Warnock delivered<\/a> $1,987,070 in Federal resources for Troup County Habitat for Humanity to upgrade housing conditions across the Chattahoochee Valley.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2023, Sens. Ossoff, Rev. Warnock, and Rep. Williams (GA-05) delivered<\/a> a historic $40 million investment \u2014 secured with bipartisan support in Congress \u2014 to build more affordable housing units in the City of Atlanta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
