Ossoff Working Across Aisle to Expand Access to Affordable Housing for Veterans"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Washington, D.C.&nbsp;<\/strong>\u2014 U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff is working across the aisle to expand access to affordable housing for Georgia veterans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sen. Ossoff cosponsored the bipartisan&nbsp;<em>Housing Unhoused Disabled Veterans Act (HUDVA)<\/em>, first introduced by Sens. Alex Padilla (D-CA) and Dave McCormick (R-PA), to ensure that veterans can more fairly access affordable housing options.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Historically, disability benefits had been considered part of annual income when determining housing assistance eligibility, unfairly disadvantaging Georgia veterans with a service-connected disability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The bipartisan bill would instead exclude disability benefits from counting toward annual income, expanding eligibility for several of the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD)\u2019s housing assistance programs, including the HUD-Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (HUD-VASH) program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOur national honor requires that we lift up and support all who have sacrificed in America\u2019s defense. That\u2019s why I am working to end veteran homelessness in Georgia and nationwide,\u201d&nbsp;<strong>said Sen. Ossoff.<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sen. Ossoff continues working to support Georgia\u2019s servicemembers, veterans, and military families.<strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In December, Sen. Ossoff&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ossoff.senate.gov\/es\/press-releases\/sen-ossoff-working-to-strengthen-support-for-disabled-veterans-their-families\/\">cosponsored<\/a>&nbsp;the bipartisan&nbsp;<em>Helping Heroes Act<\/em>&nbsp;to expand supportive services for families of disabled veterans, including children taking on caregiving roles for their parents.<strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2025, Sen. Ossoff&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ossoff.senate.gov\/es\/press-releases\/sen-ossoff-backing-bipartisan-bill-to-help-veterans-afford-homes\/\">worked across the aisle<\/a>&nbsp;to pass the bipartisan&nbsp;<em>VA Home Loan Awareness Act&nbsp;<\/em>through the Senate, legislation he cosponsored to help Georgia veterans afford homes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also in 2025, Sens.
