Ossoff Continues Bipartisan Work to Support Georgia\u2019s Forestry Industry"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Washington, D.C.&nbsp;<\/strong>\u2014 U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff is working with Republicans and Democrats to support Georgia&#8217;s forestry industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sen. Ossoff is co-sponsoring the bipartisan&nbsp;<em>Jobs in the Woods Act<\/em>, legislation that would boost Georgia\u2019s forestry industry by establishing a competitive grant program for forestry career training programs. The bipartisan bill was first introduced by Senators Angus King (I-ME) and James Risch (R-ID).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/forestresources.org\/2025\/09\/11\/meeting-americas-forestry-workforce-needs\/\">Forest Resources Association<\/a>, the forestry industry has an aging workforce and is facing difficulties attracting younger foresters. While Georgia employs around 182,000 people in the forestry industry, a 2023&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/gffgrow.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/Labor-Study-Executive-Summary2.pdf\">study<\/a>&nbsp;by the Georgia Forestry Foundation showed an annual demand gap of approximately 40 workers for foresters and forest technicians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cGeorgia leads the nation in forestry. This bipartisan legislation will help equip our forest workers with the skills they need and our industry with the resources to continue leading the nation,\u201d&nbsp;<strong>Sen. Ossoff said<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sen. Ossoff continues working to support Georgia\u2019s foresters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In September, Sens. Ossoff and Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-MS)&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ossoff.senate.gov\/es\/press-releases\/sens-ossoff-hyde-smith-introduce-bipartisan-bill-to-protect-georgias-forestry-industry-from-pine-beetle-infestation\/\">introduced<\/a>&nbsp;the bipartisan&nbsp;Emergency Pine Beetle Response Act&nbsp;to help Georgia foresters recovering from pine beetle infestations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In February, Sens. Ossoff and Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA)&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ossoff.senate.gov\/es\/press-releases\/sens-ossoff-cassidy-introduce-bipartisan-bill-to-strengthen-forest-management-2\/\">introduced<\/a>&nbsp;the bipartisan&nbsp;Forest Data Modernization Act, which would modernize and improve the U.S. Forest Service\u2019s Forest Inventory and Analysis program to ensure reliable data is available to inform forest management decision making.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Last December, Sen.
