Washington, D.C. <\/strong>\u2014 U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff is working across the aisle to protect Georgia\u2019s agricultural industry from cyberattacks. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sen. Ossoff co-sponsored the bipartisan Farm and Food Cybersecurity Act of 2025<\/em> to help address the growing threat of cyberattacks on Georgia\u2019s food and agriculture sectors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to a 2021 FBI report<\/a>, these sectors are increasingly targeted by cyberattacks as they become more reliant on smart technologies, industrial control systems, and internet-based automation systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This bill, first introduced by Sens. Tom Cotton (R-AR) and Elissa Slotkin (D-MI), would direct the U.S. Secretary of Agriculture to conduct a study on the cybersecurity threats to, and vulnerabilities of, the agriculture and food sectors. It would also require a crisis exercise for food-related cyber emergencies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cGeorgia\u2019s agricultural sector is among the critical industries increasingly targeted by cyberattacks. This bipartisan legislation will help protect against these threats and allow our farmers and growers to continue their critical work of feeding our State and Nation without fear,\u201d Sen. Ossoff said.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sen. Ossoff continues his work to protect and strengthen Georgia\u2019s agriculture industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last December, Sen. Ossoff successfully fought<\/a> to pass a bipartisan disaster relief package that included $21 billion in agricultural disaster funding to help Georgia farmers recovering from the disastrous impacts of Hurricane Helene and farmers nationwide impacted by natural disasters. Since then, Sen. Ossoff has repeatedly urged<\/a> the Trump Administration to swiftly distribute that funding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In August, Sen. Ossoff co-sponsored<\/a> the bipartisan United States Citrus Protection Act<\/em> alongside Senator Rick Scott (R-FL) to support and protect Georgia\u2019s citrus growers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier this year, Sen. Ossoff pressed USDA<\/a> to support Georgia pecan growers, and then this summer, USDA announced a $24 million investment<\/a> to support pecan growers and shellers in Georgia and across the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2023, following Sen. Ossoff\u2019s push<\/a>, the Republic of India announced a major 70% cut to tariffs on U.S. pecan exports \u2014 helping growers sell more products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
