Warnock Push Trump Admin to Sustain SNAP Program"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Washington, D.C.&nbsp;<\/strong>\u2014 Senate Democrats, including U.S. Senators Jon Ossoff and Reverend Raphael Warnock, are pressing the Trump Administration to sustain the SNAP&nbsp;program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sens. Ossoff and Rev. Warnock, alongside colleagues, are calling for U.S Department of Agriculture (USDA) Secretary Brooke Rollins to use the Agency\u2019s existing authority to fund the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) in November.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Earlier this month, Secretary Rollins&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/business\/environment\/us-states-warn-food-aid-benefits-will-halt-if-federal-shutdown-drags-2025-10-23\/\">instructed<\/a>&nbsp;states to stop processing SNAP benefits for November,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2025\/10\/18\/politics\/snap-food-stamps-november-government-shutdown\">claiming<\/a>&nbsp;that the program will \u201crun out of money in two weeks,\u201d despite several options that remain open to USDA to ensure that Americans are able to continue receiving this critical benefit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe were deeply disturbed to hear that the USDA has instructed states to stop processing SNAP benefits for November,\u201d&nbsp;<strong>Sens. Ossoff, Rev. Warnock, and the group wrote.&nbsp;<\/strong>\u201cAmericans are already struggling with the rising cost of groceries, and they cannot afford a sudden lapse in grocery assistance.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe urge you to immediately communicate to states and committees of jurisdiction the USDA\u2019s plans to disburse the contingency funding to state agencies and utilize all available legal authorities so that American families can get benefits without interruption,\u201d&nbsp;<strong>they continued.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sen. Ossoff continues working to ensure every Georgian can afford to feed their family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In April, Sen. Ossoff&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ossoff.senate.gov\/es\/press-releases\/sen-ossoff-sounds-alarm-on-congressional-republicans-plan-to-cut-food-assistance-for-georgians\/\">called out<\/a>&nbsp;Congressional Republicans\u2019 budget proposal, which cut billions of dollars from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) with devastating consequences for Georgia veterans, seniors, children, and farmers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In February, Sen. Ossoff, alongside other members of Georgia\u2019s Congressional Delegation,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ossoff.senate.gov\/es\/press-releases\/sen-ossoff-again-urges-gov-kemp-to-accept-federal-funds-for-school-childrens-summer-meals\/\">urged<\/a>&nbsp;Georgia Governor Brian Kemp to reverse course and apply for the summer EBT program to feed Georgia students in need over the summer break.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Last year, Sen.
