Washington, D.C. <\/strong>\u2014 Senate Republicans today again blocked the Democratic proposal to fund the Federal government and prevent catastrophic increases in health insurance premiums.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both Senate proposals to fund the Federal government failed to pass.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff released the following statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cToday, Senate Republicans again blocked a bill to fund the Federal government and prevent massive increases in health insurance premiums. More than 20 million Americans will see their health insurance premiums double next year without Congressional action, while President Trump continues to refuse to work on a solution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAs President Trump said<\/a> himself in 2011, \u2018if there is a shutdown, I think it would be a tremendously negative mark on the President of the United States. He’s the one who has to get people together … the President of the United States has to get this done.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cGeorgians want the Federal government up and running and Georgians oppose huge increases in health insurance premiums. I remain ready to work with my Republican colleagues to resolve this unnecessary crisis as swiftly as possible.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sen. Ossoff continues working to lower Georgians\u2019 health care costs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In June, Sen. Ossoff offered an amendment<\/a> during the Senate\u2019s budget debate to extend key Affordable Care Act tax credits in the Trump budget bill, but Republicans blocked Sen. Ossoff\u2019s amendment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In July<\/a> and in August<\/a>, Sen. Ossoff warned Trump\u2019s recent budget bill will drive up Georgians\u2019 health care costs, and he urged Congress to take action to fix its mistake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sen. Ossoff has also co-sponsored<\/a> the Health Care Affordability Act of 2025<\/em> to extend the ACA tax credits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
