Ossoff sent a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ossoff.senate.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/25.07.16-Letter-to-Secretary-Rollins-and-Commissioner-Harper.pdf\">letter<\/a>&nbsp;to U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Secretary Brooke Rollins and Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Tyler Harper requesting answers on why they have still failed to finalize a block grant agreement for the Federal relief more than 9 months after Hurricane Helene devastated Georgia\u2019s agricultural communities \u2014 and more than 6 months after Congress appropriated disaster aid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAlthough some funds have been made available at the national level through USDA, many of Georgia\u2019s farmers and producers who were most affected by Hurricane Helene are not eligible for this assistance and tell me they are instead counting on a block grant,\u201d&nbsp;<strong>Sen. Ossoff wrote.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sen. Ossoff also noted that USDA Secretary Rollins&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ossoff.senate.gov\/es\/press-releases\/watch-sen-ossoff-presses-president-trumps-agriculture-secretary-brooke-rollins-to-expedite-hurricane-relief-for-georgia-farmers\/\">testified<\/a>&nbsp;before Congress in May promising the block grant negotiations with Georgia would \u201cmove very, very quickly.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHowever, the failure of USDA and the State of Georgia to conclude the block grant agreement has left many Georgia farmers and producers in limbo,\u201d&nbsp;<strong>Sen. Ossoff stated, demanding an updated timeframe for the completion of the agreement within one week.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sen. Ossoff continues pressing USDA and the State of Georgia to swiftly distribute Federal disaster assistance for Georgia farmers that Congress swiftly secured after Hurricane Helene. After Hurricane Michael, it took Congress over 8 months to pass relief. After Helene, Sen. Ossoff pushed Congress and got done it in under 90 days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In May, during a U.S. Senate hearing, Sen. Ossoff&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ossoff.senate.gov\/es\/press-releases\/watch-sen-ossoff-presses-president-trumps-agriculture-secretary-brooke-rollins-to-expedite-hurricane-relief-for-georgia-farmers\/\">pressed<\/a>&nbsp;USDA Secretary Rollins to expedite relief to Georgia farmers impacted by Hurricane Helene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Last December, Sen. Ossoff&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ossoff.senate.gov\/es\/press-releases\/sen-ossoff-passes-agricultural-disaster-relief-for-georgia-farmers-after-hurricane-helene\/\">successfully fought<\/a>&nbsp;to pass a bipartisan disaster relief package that included $21 billion in agricultural disaster funding to help Georgia farmers recovering from the disastrous impacts of Hurricane Helene and farmers nationwide impacted by natural disasters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sen. Ossoff has repeatedly urged the Trump Administration to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ossoff.senate.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/24.09.30_Hurricane-Helene-Ag-Disaster-Response.pdf\">swiftly distribute<\/a>&nbsp;Federal economic assistance secured by Congress last year for Georgia farmers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Last fall, Sen. Ossoff&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ossoff.senate.gov\/es\/press-releases\/watch-sen-ossoff-presses-both-parties-on-urgency-of-agricultural-disaster-assistance-for-georgia\/\">testified<\/a>&nbsp;before the U.S. Senate Committee on Appropriations on the urgent need to support Georgia agriculture after the devastating impacts of Hurricane Helene.<br><br>Last September, in the immediate days after Hurricane Helene, Sen.
