Ossoff is continuing to press the Trump Administration\u2019s Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Lee Zeldin to restore grant funding that would strengthen quality of life in southwest Georgia.<br><br>After the grant was canceled, Thomasville Community Development Corporation Executive Director Earl Williams&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wtxl.com\/thomasville\/thomasville-faces-setback-as-20-million-epa-grant-is-abruptly-terminated\">told<\/a>&nbsp;WTXL Tallahassee, \u201cWe all worked so hard for this, and we won. And then, all of a sudden, one day, it\u2019s gone. And it was just a great sense of disappointment. It was almost like I lost a good friend.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In May, in a U.S. Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Interior, Environment and Related Agencies hearing, Sen. Ossoff&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ossoff.senate.gov\/es\/press-releases\/watch-sen-ossoff-presses-epa-administrator-on-cancellation-of-public-health-grant-for-thomasville-ga\/\">pressed<\/a>&nbsp;Admin. Zeldin on why the Trump Administration canceled the Federal grant for Thomasville to open a new health clinic and upgrade wastewater infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the hearing, Zeldin said he would be willing to have a follow-up conversation with Sen. Ossoff about the grant. However, after Sen. Ossoff reached out for a meeting, the EPA never responded. Now, Sen. Ossoff continues pressing and fighting for Thomasville.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI write to follow up my request for a meeting, sent May 23, to discuss EPA\u2019s cancellation of a&nbsp;grant for Thomasville, Georgia, to build a new Federally-Qualified Health Clinic, install new&nbsp;wastewater infrastructure, upgrade homes for seniors, and construct a new shelter to protect&nbsp;residents during extreme weather,\u201d&nbsp;<strong>Sen. Ossoff wrote to EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cYou have repeatedly stated the EPA\u2019s core mission is to protect human health and the environment, yet you cancelled a grant to build a new health center in an area that has experience high levels of pollution with reported high rates of leukemia and pneumonia,\u201d<strong>Sen.
