Ossoff remarks on Senate floor<\/em><\/strong><\/a><strong><em><u><\/u><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Washington, D.C.&nbsp;<\/strong>\u2014 U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff\u2019s amendment to stop Georgians\u2019 health insurance premiums from increasing was blocked by Senate Republicans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sen. Ossoff&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=33NDgbruTHA\">offered an amendment<\/a>&nbsp;during the Senate\u2019s budget debate to extend key Affordable Care Act tax credits, without which Georgians would see giant increases in health care costs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/healthyfuturega.org\/2025\/02\/18\/why-aca-premiums-may-soon-become-less-affordable-and-what-its-expiring-tax-could-mean-for-georgia-families\/\">According to Georgians for a Healthy Future,<\/a>&nbsp;if the ACA tax credits expire \u2014 as they would in the GOP\u2019s bill \u2014 over 1 million Georgians could see their premiums increase next year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ajc.com\/news\/health-news\/thousands-of-georgians-could-lose-health-insurance-if-gop-house-bill-passes\/UKNZ5AENOJGH7LPGCO3DO4BCZQ\/\">According to<em>&nbsp;The Atlanta Journal-Constitution<\/em><\/a>, over 300,000 Georgians who have health care through the ACA could lose insurance altogether because they won&#8217;t be able to afford the increase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>However, Sen. Ossoff\u2019s amendment to stop Georgians\u2019 health insurance premiums from increasing was blocked by Senate Republicans<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cInstead of adding trillions to the debt in tax cuts for the rich while destroying Medicaid and renewable energy, I propose we help our constituents afford health insurance,\u201d&nbsp;<strong>Sen.
