Washington, D.C. <\/strong>\u2014 U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff today asked the VA Secretary about leadership challenges at the Augusta VA impacting veterans\u2019 care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sen. Ossoff, Ranking Member<\/a> of the U.S. Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Veterans Affairs, today held a hearing about VA\u2019s proposed Fiscal Year 2026 budget.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A report released this spring from the VA Office of Inspector General (OIG)<\/a> found VA Augusta leaders fostered a \u201cculture of fear\u201d with a \u201cthreatening and abusive communication style\u201d and allegedly retaliated against employees who shared concerns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI know the Acting Director was put on leave pending an investigation. I think that’s a positive step,\u201d Ranking Member Ossoff said.<\/strong> \u201cCan you confirm that it’s among your highest priorities to get a permanent new leadership staff in at Augusta?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following Sen. Ossoff\u2019s push, Secretary Collins confirmed that the VA is prioritizing their search for permanent leadership at the Augusta VA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
