Washington, DC <\/strong>\u2014 U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff is pushing back against the Trump Administration\u2019s termination of IVF programs at Georgia\u2019s CDC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last week, Sen. Ossoff and a group of Senators demanded answers from Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. on the elimination<\/a> of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) team responsible for making sure families who are trying to have children through in vitro fertilization (IVF) can do so in an informed and safe manner \u2013 despite President Donald Trump\u2019s promise to support families seeking IVF treatments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Assisted Reproductive Technology Surveillance and Research team (ARTS) at the CDC has served as a key source of information<\/a> for patients seeking fertility treatment, collecting and maintaining data on IVF and assisted reproductive technology cycles performed in the United States.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBecause IVF is a complicated and expensive process, the American people deserve access to the best information possible to inform their family building journey. Unfortunately, hollowing out National Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) Surveillance System capabilities and capacity is consistent with Donald Trump\u2019s deceitful and disingenuous rhetoric on IVF,\u201d Sen. Ossoff and the group wrote to HHS Secretary Kennedy.<\/strong> \u201cYour actions threaten hopeful parents and families\u2019 ability to access high-quality, safe, and effective fertility care.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sen. Ossoff continues working to protect Georgia families\u2019 access to reproductive health care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last March, Sen. Ossoff lifted up concerns<\/a> of Georgia families worried about access to IVF after the overturning of Roe v. Wade<\/em> and the Alabama Supreme Court\u2019s subsequent extreme ruling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sen. Ossoff also co-sponsored<\/a> the Access to Family Building Ac<\/em>t to establish a legal right to IVF and the Right to Contraception Act<\/em><\/a>, a bill establishing a right to access the pill, IUDs, and other contraception.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year, Sen. Ossoff has released multiple reports from his ongoing investigation into the impacts of Georgia\u2019s 6-week abortion ban. The reports have revealed that Georgia doctors are being forced to wait<\/a> for women to develop life-threatening infections before terminating nonviable pregnancies and that over a dozen Georgia OBGYNs say they\u2019ve personally observed cases where Georgia\u2019s abortion ban led to injury or even the death<\/a> of pregnant women \u2013 all due to the State of Georgia\u2019s abortion ban.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
