Warnock Urging Trump Administration to Unfreeze Federal Funding for Georgia School Districts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Washington, D.C. \u2014<\/strong>&nbsp;U.S. Senators Reverend Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff today urged the Trump Administration to&nbsp;unfreeze Federal support for Georgia school districts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sens. Ossoff&nbsp;and Rev. Warnock urged Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Lee Zeldin to honor Federal rebates awarded to school districts in Baldwin and Clayton Counties under the bipartisan infrastructure law\u2019s Clean School Bus program, which provides Federal funding to reimburse for the purchase of clean school buses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Last year, the EPA announced Clayton County would be receiving Federal resources to help&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.11alive.com\/article\/news\/local\/electric-buses-education-georgia-students\/85-992562cc-89ae-49ab-95f8-4f2013774141\">purchase 25 electric buses<\/a>, while Baldwin County would be receiving Federal resources to help&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/wgxa.tv\/news\/local\/baldwin-co-school-district-receives-2m-towards-energy-efficient-school-buses-grant-funding-environmental-protection-agency-epa-bcsd-student-transportation-noris-price\">purchase six new electric school buses<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe write to urge the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to expeditiously resumereimbursement of Clean School Bus (CSB) program rebates from the bipartisan infrastructure&nbsp;law, which were awarded to school districts in Georgia to purchase new school buses,\u201d&nbsp;<strong>Sens. Ossoff and Rev. Warnock wrote to EPA Administrator Zeldin.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cClayton County and Baldwin County have each complied with the terms of their rebates, but the EPA is now needlessly and inexplicably refusing to honor Baldwin and Clayton County\u2019s rebate,\u201d<strong>Sens. Ossoff and Rev. Warnock continued.<\/strong>&nbsp;\u201cEPA\u2019s bureaucratic delays of these projects could jeopardize Federal investments that will tangibly benefit the health and wellbeing of young people in Georgia. It is imperative that the EPA reverse course.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sens. Ossoff and Rev. Warnock continue working to deliver resources for children across Georgia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Last January, Sens. Ossoff and Rev. Warnock&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ossoff.senate.gov\/es\/press-releases\/sen-ossoff-upgrading-school-bus-fleets-across-georgia-through-bipartisan-infrastructure-law\/\">delivered<\/a>&nbsp;Federal funding to multiple Georgia school districts to purchase new school buses through the Environmental Protection Agency\u2019s (EPA) Clean Bus Awards program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Senator Warnock has long been a champion of greening our yellow school buses, providing cleaner, safer commutes for Georgia\u2019s school children, and boosting Georgia\u2019s clean energy economy. In 2021, Senator Warnock introduced the Clean Commute for Kids Act, which became the EPA\u2019s $5 billion Clean School Bus Program in the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and has provided over $200 million to school districts across Georgia to purchase new low- and zero-emission school buses.
